I am a qualified proofreader, trained through the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) to check for errors and inconsistencies. After passing their tutor assessed courses (PR2 and PR3), I also completed courses in Word for Practical Editing, to improve my efficiency, and References, so that I can confidently work across academic disciplines.
As well as having an excellent attention to detail, I am reliable and professional with a friendly approach. As a member of CIEP, I am bound by their Code of Practice for Ensuring editorial excellence.
I am educated to Masters by Research (Sustainable Environments), awarded for a thesis on the communication of spatial data. My research assessed the usefulness of maps and other information in the early stages of a natural flood management project. This was subsequently published in the Geographical Journal and I presented it at an academic conference. As an undergraduate I studied geography. My fascination with our world and the natural environment continues, along with my passion for sustainability. Having previously lived in Asia, the Middle East and the USA, I am well-travelled and have a wealth of international experience.
PAST WORK EXPERIENCE
Following my degree, I trained and worked in accountancy and I have many years of experience working in financial and project administration roles, in both large and small organisations. I am confident working with financial data, and I also understand the importance of clearly written English for effective communication.
IN MY SPARE TIME
When I am not working on proofreading and editing projects, I enjoy:
I am lucky to have the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside on my doorstep.
ATTENDING ARTS EVENTS
I enjoy attending art exhibitions, the theatre and dance productions, and also the fabulous festivals held annually nearby in Cheltenham and Gloucester.
